Our Board of Directors

The CCA board includes 6-9 people who are dedicated to the success of the school.  Some members are parents of students at CCA and some are members of the community who see the advantage of a Christian education. The board is open to suggestions of potential members so feel free to contact the Chairman. 
 

Mr. Bob Montgomery, Chairman


Mr. Montgomery has been married to his wife, Cindy Montgomery, for 43 years. They have four children and 13 grandchildren. The Montgomerys are members of First Baptist Moultrie. Mr. Montgomery was born in Americus, GA. He lived in Plains, GA for a few years where his mother was a teacher and taught Mrs. Rosalyn Carter, wife of President Jimmy Carter. Moultrie became his home when his Father became a pilot instructor at Spence Field. He graduated from Moultrie High School in 1964. He attended The University of Florida on football scholarship where he was one of the first to taste test Gatorade. He departed for the United States Air Force in 1966 and served a tour in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. After being honorably discharged he graduated from The University of Georgia in 1972. Mr. Montgomery has worked in the banking industry for many years in clouding the Citizens & Southern Bank of Georgia, Greenville Banking Co. all before he moved back to Moultrie in 2000 and started South Georgia Banking Company. He was President until he retired in 2015. Mr. Montgomery has an extensive history of community service and volunteerism. This includes serving on the finance committee at FBC Moultrie, serving as a board member for the Colquitt County Arts Center, Community in Schools, Sunset Country Club, Colquitt Regional Medical Center Foundation and Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame. He is the or a Founder of Score South Georgia which is an executive mentoring service for small businesses and serves over 200 clients. Along with football, Mr. Montgomery played baseball and basketball through his school days and is now an avid college football fan. He enjoys playing golf, fishing and bird hunting. He has a few “bucket list items” that he has accomplished including walking the beaches of Normandy and visiting the American Cemetery. He is a 2002 inductee into the Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame and the 2017 recipient of the Moultrie/Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce “Man of the Year” Award.

Mr. Alan Mathis, Founding Member


Alan Mathis was born and raised right here in Moultrie. After graduating from Colquitt County High School in 1984 he attended the United States Air Force academy and received a B.S. in Mathematics, 1988. He also has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Valdosta State University, 1988.
Mr. Mathis Joined the United States Navy and served our country from 1989 until 2000. He joined the United States Naval Air Reserve in 2000 and retired in 2009. He has owned and operated Eagles of America, an airport and fixed base operations service and is a commercial Pilot since 2004. Mr. Mathis has had extensive career in aviation that includes attending the Naval Strike Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in Fallon, Nevada. He has has served on 5 deployments and 2 extended deployments aboard several aircraft carriers including the USS George Washington and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.


Alan and his wife Dena have one son. Dena is a 2nd grade teacher and Hayden learns classically as a homeschooler using Classical Conversations. They attend First Baptist Church Moultrie where he is an ordained deacon and has taught Sunday school. Alan’s interests include studying the Bible, mentoring prospective Service Academy and military entrants and what he has done his whole life, flying.

Dr. Robert Spruill, M.D.,
Board Member, Shotgun Team Coach, Founder of CCA


Dr. Robert Spruill is married to Brooke Spruill. The Spruill’s have four children who attend CCA. Robert is from Hoschton, Georgia where he grew up on a dairy farm and was an active member of 4-H and the FFA. He graduated from Jackson County High School in 1996. Robert continued his education at the University of Georgia, graduating with a B.S. in Biology. Robert then earned his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. After completing Family Medicine Residency, in Greenwood South Carolina, the Spruill’s moved to Moultrie in 2007. The Spruill’s own Barefoot Cattle Company that they enjoy operating with their children. Robert and his family are attending members of Mount Olive Baptist. Robert serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Robert is also the head coach of the CCA Shotgun Team and has served on the CCA board for 5 years. Robert is in private practice at the Kirk Clinic.

Mrs. Nancy Slocumb

 

Nancy Slocumb is a native of Colquitt County. She is married to Johnny Slocumb, the owner of the Slocumb Company. She has two daughters, Lauryn Niday and Cara McCalley, and two grandchildren, one of which attends Colquitt Christian Academy. Nancy attended the University of Georgia and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics with a specialty in Early Childhood Education. Later, she continued her education by adding on her Masters degree in Middle Grades education, along with her Reading K-12 and gifted endorsement. Nancy has taught at RB Wright, Pineland, New Horizons, and Williams Middle school totaling 30 years in education. Nancy is currently employed by Southwest Resa and works as an adjunct professor at Valdosta State University. Nancy is active in First Baptist Church where she leads a Bible study; she, also, enjoys being active in the community, swimming, and being outdoors. She is passionate about her faith, family, friends and the students whom she teaches.

Mr. Andy Cashwell


Andy is married to Dana, a registered dietician. They have two sons, Stuart and Nathan. Stuart and his wife have one daughter and they live in Warner Robins. Nathan is married to Maddie and they have one son and live here in Moultrie. Mr. Cashwell graduated Americus High in 1986. After receiving a B.A. in Public Relations from Auburn University he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Arts in religious Education. He furthered his studies at Liberty University receiving a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies, 2011. After seminary Andy and Dana moved to Moultrie where he was the Minister of Youth and Education until 2004 at First Baptist Church. Andy has been the Pastor of Mount Olive Baptist, Moultrie, since 2005.
 

Andy has served on the board of Hope house and volunteered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Andy enjoys coaching and playing tennis and the art of wood working.

Mr. Lester Castellow


Mr. Castellow is from Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Druid Hills High School in 1973 and went on to receive a B.A. in Economics from Emory College of Emory University. He received his M.B.A from Georgia State University and his J.D. in 1982 from Emory University School of Law.
Mr. Castellow has lived and practiced law in Moultrie since 1982.
Mr. Castellow has been married to his wife Angela since 1987. Together they have one daughter, Avery of Charolette, and their son Lester and his wife live in Birmingham with their two children. The Castellow’s are members of St. Marks Anglican Church, where they attend Mass. Mr. Castellow teaches Sunday School at Moultrie First Methodist Church. Along with his Sunday School class, he works with Community Friendship Kitchen. Mr. Castellow is a charter member of the board of directors and a volunteer for the Colquitt County Habitat for Humanity. Not only does he work out at the YMCA but he also has served on the board of the Moultrie Colquitt County YMCA and serves as their pro-bono legal counsel. Mr. Castellow and his wife enjoy gardening and will be found in his garden most Saturdays unless he is hiking the Appalachian Trail. He will soon hike the next section of a 75 mile section hike. Education is important to Mr. Castellow and this includes reading about many subjects including American, English and Christian history. The top of the Castellow’s list of enjoyable activities is spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Mr. David Stone


Mr. Stone was born in the small town of Cuthbert, GA and was raised in the even smaller town of Edison, GA. He is married to Ava Stone and they have three daughters that have given them a total of eight healthy grandchildren. David’s son-in-law, Matt Cannon, is the PE Coach at CCA. After graduating from Calhoun County High School in 1973, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 1977 with a degree in Accounting. He then began working in the Atlanta office for Arthur Andersen as a CPA. He returned to Southwest GA and began working for Draffin & Tucker, CPAs. After 28 years, he began his own practice and remains there today.
Mr. Stone is a member of First Baptist Moultrie where he as served as a Deacon and in various financial positions. Mr. Stone has served in several positions in the Kiwanis Club including President. He has served on various committees with the Chamber of Commerce and was the Treasurer for R.B. Wright Elementary PTA for 10 years. Mr. Stone says that his children and grandchildren occupy most of his free time and they are truly his only great accomplishments.

Mrs. Amanda Beaty

Amanda Beaty has lived in Moultrie for over forty-five years since she and Bud, her Moultrie-born husband, moved here shortly after they married. She had completed her master’s in reading at Georgia State and later received certification in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders. She taught special education at R.B. Wright for thirteen years before accepting a job with the Department of Education in 1998 as a reading specialist. In that capacity, she wrote grants, did professional development in reading, and oversaw schools implementing Reading First grants. After she retired from the Department in 2010, she returned to Moultrie where she continued doing professional development and grant writing. In 2018, her oldest grandson transferred to CCA and she has volunteered there ever since. She now divides her time between her husband, her five grandsons, CCA, and St. Mark’s Anglican Church where she is very active.
