Colquitt Christian Academy held its first chapel program of the 2016-2017 school year on August 26, 2016. Chapel is a time that we as teachers, students, and parents gather together in the sanctuary of Calvary Baptist Church, our temporary home, and worship together. We were privileged to be led in several hymns by Mrs. Alicia Sims with Mr. Ken Collier accompanying on piano. As always, Father Will McQueen, the Chairman of CCA's board and rector of St. Mark's Anglican church, led us in prayer, responsive readings, and the Apostle's Creed.
In the past, we've asked clergy from area churches to come and deliver a short message during chapel. This time we had a real treat when our very own David Walden talked to us about banana splits. Well, not exactly. He showed us that just like the banana must be peeled in order to enjoy the goodness that awaits inside, we, as human beings, must have the dross peeled away from our own lives in order for the goodness of God to shine through us. As it says in Hebrews 12, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfected of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."
This was a great first chapel, and we hope it's a sign of great things to come for CCA in 2016 and 2017. We appreciate your prayers and other support as we begin our second year at the school. Please check back periodically for updates.
